Chalazion/Hordeolum

Picture
Styes may be either Hordeolums or Chalazions.  Both are basically harmless bumps on the lid from clogged tear glands.  Hordeolums are caused from infection, while Chalazions are caused by inflammation and affect different glands than hordeolums.  These can be related to Blepharitis. To prevent a stye from occurring use Lid Scrubs.  If you already have a stye, it may take a several weeks to completely go away; to speed up the processes you can use Warm Compresses and or the Boiled Egg Technique.  If you want it removed immediately you may go to an Ophthalmologist and have it surgically removed.
